Overall Impression:
Texas-based rock band Daneka Nation deliver a vigorous take on a contemporary pop/rock anthem, with their rendition of Rachel Patten's 2015 smash hit "Fight Song." Performed with more of a rock edge than the original, this track features a dynamic arena-friendly sound, as well as a strong and confident vocal performance by frontman Rhett Daneka as he conveys this powerful message of inspiration and empowerment. Scintillating guitar leads and thunderous drumming perfectly compliment Daneka's bold baritone here, making Daneka Nation's version of "Fight Song" a must listen for any and all pop/rock enthusiasts.
Strongest Point(s):
Outstanding production, solid mix. Excellent choice of a cover; this song has had an immediate cultural impact as a call-to-action for a multitude of marginalized groups in societies around the world, and rightfully so. As far as modern rock anthems go, this is near the very top. Fantastic performance by the entire band, great energy. Drums are big and powerful, without dominating the mix. Brilliant guitar work, wonderful tonal variety and technique there. Nice keyboard choices. Vocals sound terrific, both in the lead and in the backing vox. All in all this is a terrific cover of a contemporary classic, well-executed and given more of a "rock" treatment that could help to expand its audience. Great work by everyone involved!
